Feathery & Ethereal: Rihanna at 2010 Grammys Love the Inspiration not the Look

Rihanna's Grammy Look
Bebe at ShopStyle
Feathery & Ethereal....recreate Rihanna's Red Carpet Look with frosted blue and silver eyeshadows, metallic nails and feathery...

We didn't love the  dress... we haven't loved the hair since she embraced this poodle nonsense but...we did like the Ethereal feel of her overall look.  Silver Nails and Pale Blue Eyeshadow is a fun way to embrace the waning days of winter.

The Real JWow: Jennifer Hudson 2010 Grammys

Roksanda Ilincic at ShopStyle

Wow!!!!

J. Hud is now J. Wow!  She's been a Sunny's Girl for years thanks to her wonderful stylist Elijah Cohen!  We love her...she's never looked more amazing and we are so happy to see a out in the open Sunny's Girl on the red carpet (believe us...there are many more but we don't take discretion lightly)

Celeb Looks we Love: Beyonce Grammy's 2010

Giambattista Valli at ShopStyle

Wow...she looked great... wasn't what we were expecting but... if you want to Shop her Style... I think the only thing you can really recreate with Beyonce's Grammy look is Spanx and Butt Pads

Beyonce's hair was very light...something that I think is becoming a Grammy tradition.  She didn't go for the tousled waves we were hoping for but it was nice to see Beyonce in this body hugging gown by Stephane Rolland.

Sunny's TV Episode 3: The Sunny's Bridal Checklist

We often tell brides...you can't get married without hair extensions and false eyelashes.  Even if you are a a low maintenance girl on a budget...these are the most affordable thing you can buy for your wedding day that will make you the happiest.

Sunny's was a part of the 2010 Atlanta Bridal Extravanganza.  Our new favorite Sunny's Girl Megan was the winner of a set of Lord & Cliff Clip in Extensions in Color 4/30.  Steve Moore of the Moore Agency put them in and styled it for her and it literally changed her life.

By the time Steve was done she looked so stunning she was asked to be in the fashion show. We had so much fun with Megan and all of her friends!

So if someone finally put a ring on it over the holidays... stop by or call Sunny's to schedule a Bridal Consultation.  We can walk you through all you will need.  We also host Bridal Showers & Bachelorette Parties for brides looking for an out of the box bridal experience.

Looks we Love: Khloe Kardashian

This is a first...we're unabashedly Kim K lovers at Sunny's...but marriage has been kind to Khloe and she looks softer and feminine, so much so that we declare her effortless chic airport attire a look we love.

We love the hair split down the middle with the simple and straight hair.  To achieve Khloe's look we'd:
  •  Clip In  16" of Natural  Wave Indian Hair in a light brown tone.
  •  Flat Iron the clip in with an ionic T3 Flatiron and a light thermal protectant (our personal favorite...Hot Sauce by FHI )
  •  Instead of searing the hair to get it poker straight we'd casually run the flat iron over the tresses to recreate her effortless airport look.

Glamour.com predicts three hair trends for 2010

Glamour.com predicts 8 beauty trends that will one day have us declaring our look was oh so 2010's!

It's strange we can't quite but our finger on the trends we love for 2010.  There's really no particular look for hair that says 2010.  While these predictions are interesting they are quite finger on the pulse.

But here are the  hair trends according to Glamour:
  1. Top Knot hair styles a la Emily Blunt
  2. Large Braid a la Lauren Conrad
  3. Bumped up Volume a la Nicole Ritchie

We couldn't resist! New Product Alert: Butt Booster

We couldn't resist.  One of our Sunny's Girls tried them out the other night and the results were a resounding yes!  Now we know what some are thinking...how ridiculous.  But  after further inspection we realized that they really are the perfect combination of a body shaper like Spanx mixed with a body shape enhancements.  The padding is subtle and very similar to a great padded bra!

It's a new product available at our Atlanta location and more coming soon.  They retail for $20 and might just be worth every single penny.

Celeb Looks we Love: Beyonce Allure Magazine

Allure Magazine features a gorgeous layout with the lovely Beyonce in this month's Allure.  She's one of our most overlooked looks we love.  The effortless hair styled by the  impeccable Kim Kimble is so tousled and it's nice to see the lovely Ms. B look a little deconstructed.

Looks we Love: Megan Fox

She's stunning.  She may not think so...but Megan Fox is the new face of Emporio Armani ads.  We love the old Hollywood sex symbol glamour she exudes in the new ads.

How to recreate Megan's look?  We'd recommend 18" Silky Straight Clip Ins set with hot rollers to recreate the volume and body that she has in these ads.

Golden Globes Recap: Looks we Love

Ummm....let's just say one person shut it down.  Ms. Halle Berry we understand why they make songs about you.  Her look was flawless and inspired us all to get the gym and call our trainer Ramone asap.

Other notable looks we love:

Since we sell hair...we absolutely love Penelope Cruz's simple and elegant waves.  The rich color and the effortless grace she exudes is always a  look we love.

Kim K's New Fragrance Ad

We are complete Kim K fans. But... we're not one for celebrity perfumes. Just not a trend we generally love. But...we had a chance to smell Kim K's new fragrance in the latest issue of In Style and...wow!

It's the perfect blend of Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors with a a lovely note of gardenia. We might just have to pick it up.

The only thing we have to say is Kim....where's the hair? We love Kim because she makes us want to run out and buy 26" Indian Hair with soft waves and this commercial just doesn't have that effect. But... we do love the perfume.

What do you think...has anyone picked it up? It's being sold exclusively at Sephora.com...a brilliant marketing move!

New Year...New Hair Your Workout & your Hair... Tips from Celebrity Stylist & Trainer

How many times have you promised yourself that you are going to get in shape but there's one thing....your hair? A strenuous workout routine doesn't have to wreak havoc on your fab! Sunny's sat down to speak with our favorite Sunny's Couple to discuss tips to having it all...a healthy body and hair!

Kyndra Beaudoin is the woman behind some of Hollywood’s top celebrities, creating the hairstyles we all know and love: Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Taraji P. Henson, and Vanessa Williams to name a few. Kyndra’s work has earned her articles with In Style magazine, Us Weekly, and Black Hair Sophisticates, as well as being the creative hand behind Gabrielle Union's nomination and win for best weave in Hollywood on celebrity gossip websites.

Ramon Terry is a personal trainer and creator of the Out The Box Fitness Camp Program, a 5-week program offered in Midtown Atlanta.  His client roster reads like a Who's Who of Atlanta Music Industry heavy hitters.  But he is the go-to trainer for Sunny's Girls.

Q. Many women don't leave home without their wigs, including when they work out. Do you have any advice for them, such as how to care for their wig?
Kyndra: Our answer to versatility and always looking put-together is wigs and extensions. Embrace it ladies!  By all means, use them as your workout aid. All of my top actresses work out every day and go to red carpet events by night using wigs and weaves! They are an investment so you want to make sure you care for them properly. Never use cheap or drying shampoo on your extensions.  Do not wet or wash your extensions and then lay down on them without working through tangles!

 Q. What is the best way to work up a sweat for cardiovascular health? Dancing, running, etc?
Ramon: Any cardio movements are good movements! Change up your routine to challenge your body.  If you always walk on a treadmill, go outside for a change. The most important thing about sticking to a routine at home when you have no accountability is to do something you enjoy.

Looks we Love: Kate Gosselin's New Hair Extensions

Kate Gosselin is now crowned the ultimate Sunny's Girl!

People think we exaggerate when we say our motto is Change your Hair... Change your Life!

But any woman who has gone through emotional times knows that when the metamorphosis is complete on the inside we need a physical manifestation of the change.

Getting new hair extensions, dyeing your hair or getting an edgy new haircut signals to the world...I'm done feeling sad, or sorry for myself.  I'm ready to change my life.

So we say, it was worth every penny Kate!  ( a reportedly 7,000 dollars for sourcing European Hair Extensions and the celebrity stylist Ted Gibson)

Notes on a Ponytail

We all covet the perfect ponytail.  Some of us aren't blessed with a respectable amount of hair to put up in that ever so coquettish ponytail so we have to fake it.

Here are some great products to help you on the way to the perfect ponytail...

1. Toppix:  If you don't have the strongest hairline, either from breakage or traction alopecia... this is a must have  product.  Toppix is hair fibers that are available in a range of tones to match your hair color.  You simply apply the product to your thinning edges and brush into your hair.  It blends seamlessly and gives the illusion of thicker hair ( who doesn't love that? )

2. Tancho Stick:  Who knew that Indonesian's knew the secret to taming unruly edges.  Edges is a word that only those who have them know what we're talking about.  So if you have them... change your life... try this lavender wax pomade stick that tames even the unruliest of edges without a heavy  petroleum or mineral oil product.

Looks we Love: Laura Izibor

We stumbled across Laura Izibor's music the other day and we love her natural tresses.  She embraces the texture and styles her curls with a spunk that is still elegant.  So much so that we declare Laura Ibizor a look we love!
How would we recreate her look?  12" Bohyme Brazilian Wave dry cut with some face framing layers in color 2/30.   Allow the hair to dry in two strand twists to have a more defined look or allow it to air dry as it is for a look more like Laura.

Not Just Hair & Wigs

One of the best kept secrets is the great accessories we sell at Sunny's. Our jewelry buyer did an amazing job this season with some great statement pieces for Winter.

My personal favorite is the metallic flower and pearl statement necklaces. The best part...the price. Our statement necklaces start at $30 & up!

Keeping up with the Kardashians...in case we haven't mentioned...they're always a Look we Love

I don't know if we emphasize enough recently that we love the Kardashians? It's like we haven't blogged about how we absolutely refuse to miss an episode on Sunday night.

We love how they aren't afraid to embrace being feminine and pretty especially when the trend is for everyone to be so hard.

But what we love the most about them is how much they love hair extensions and how well they all wear hair extensions.

Each week in season 4 they all have just amazing hair. We always get people of all races requesting their look and we always have two words: Indian Hair.

Specifically Natural Wave Indian Hair in 22 or 26". That's the only way to get the natural free flowing extensions that the Kardashians have.

Hair Extension Maintenance Tip #1

When it's time to dry your hair extensions don't allow your stylist to use coarse towels to rub and squeeze all of the water out. Instead bring an old soft cotton tee to extract moisture without causing frizz. Or...a less environmentally friendly option... paper towels.

Remember...think of your hair extensions as a delicate silk scarf. You wouldn't wash it in Tide with Bleach and then throw it in the dryer. If you take care of your hair extensions...they'll last longer.
