Pieces of the Hair Puzzle, Tricks of the Clip-In Trade

Pieces of the hair puzzle, tricks of the clip-in trade
Our clip-in extensions have been big sellers for the holiday season, but being hair-fabulous doesn’t come without its share of questions. Fortunately, we at Sunny’s have the answers!

When you shop at a Sunny’s store you get the what’s what and how-to of clip-ins, from color and texture matching to a quick in-person tutorial. Sometimes one of the girls might even take out her hair and do it up again! For those who shop online or just want to brush up on their hair skills, we posted an instructional video for you!

I always have a piece or two left over but my style looks full and finished. I thought I was doing something wrong, but it turns out I’m not the only one. Africa in our Atlanta store says it’s like a puzzle, and she’s right. Eventually, you’ll develop a pattern of styling that you like, but there’s no right or wrong to how you clip them on!

PhotobucketSpeaking of style, don’t forget about coloring clip-ins with funky hair dye for extra length and spice! Orange for tomorrow, red for December. Come the New Year, you can have a new do by adding a couple of hot clip-ins into your regular hair routine. Don’t forget about Valentine’s sweetheart pink and Saint Patrick’s fighting green! Theme hair is the next big trend, and the possibilities are endless!

Now, along with our Silky Straight and Bodywave textures, Sunny’s would like to introduce Sunny’s Custom Clip-ins to our incredible online customers. Pick your hair from Indian Hair to Bohyme and we’ll customize your style to be clipped in or out at a moments notice!

There are so many great new things coming down the line, so clip-in and enjoy the ride! And remember: Change your hair… Change your life!

Dos & Don'ts of Indian Hair

When people order Remy Indian Hair for the first time, sometimes they are thrown off by its appearance.

Remy hair means that it is totally unprocessed...so it requires a little work to get it to your liking...

But once you have it down...you really won't ever go back to anything else.

So...here are some dos & don'ts for taking care of Indian Hair:

1.DO gently wash Indian Hair in one direction with a detangling shampoo. We recommend Shampoos that don't contain harsh detergents such as Sodium Laureth Sulfates. We personally like Cream of Nature Shampoo, Nopu or Shampoo for Dry Hair sold at Trader Joe's

2. DO reinforce the cut edges of your hair with a small amount of nail glue to prevent shedding from the edges of the track.

3. Do use Sebastian Potion #9, a great lightweight curl refresher along with mist from a water bottle to restore wave & curl pattern in between washing your Indian hair.

4. Do use a wide-tooth comb to detangle hair after washing. Support the attachment of the weft when brushing to avoid pulling on your own hair.

5. DON'T use heavy pomades, oils or grease on Indian hair. Indian hair is not used to heavy products and the hair shaft will start to attract dust and pollens from the environment and not behave the way it should.

6.DO use moisturizing conditioners to ensure that the hair lasts long. Indian hair has been cut from the scalps natural oils and you are in a balancing act to not strip the hair of the moisture but not add to much oil to the hair.

7. Do use extreme caution when coloring the hair, although Indian Hair at Sunny's is Virgin Indian hair, you need to gently lift the color or leave the coloring to a professional colorist.

Nothing new under the sun!!!

We were delightfully amused to find this on a http://hermenaut.org/

A vintage ad from 1905 selling....Hair Extensions!!!!

Who knew that Parisian Women were rocking human hair extensions!!!

Change you hair ...Change your Life

Get your Fave Celeb Looks with Hair Extensions and Wigs

Posh Spice: At it again
We love her. We wait on her to dictate what we wigs we will carry. So after months of looking at the various versions of the same Posh Spice bob we were exhilarated with her new cut. Especially because we already carry several versions of her Mia Farrow inspired pixie cut.

How to get her look: Sensationnel A028 Wig...retails for $24.99
Baby by Signature Wigs: $32.99 available at all Sunny's Hair and Wigs Retail locations.

Blake Lively: Gossip Girl Gorgeous
Another girl we love. Loose and tousled blond hair that is simply gorgeous.

How to get her look: We recommend Bohyme Silky Straight (prices begin at $99 & up) hair or Bohyme Soft Wave . To get Blake's sun-kissed golden blond dimension we would go with colors 24/613, 10/16 or 14/24. If you use Bohyme Silky Straight then use a lightweight leave in conditioner and braid your hair uneven braids. Let them dry and voila...loose tousled waves. Or alternatively, skip the braids and get Bohyme Soft Wave which is lightly processed to have that ever so casual wave we love.

Kerry Washington: We love love love her! She's smart, talented and stylish. Her hair is always soft and tousled yet elegantly styled.

How to get her look: Two words: Indian Hair. We recommend 6 ounces of Indian Natural Wave 14" this retails at $112 & up and is sold online and at all Sunny's Locations. To achieve Kerry's look we suggest sewing in the Natural Wave Indian Hair with a standard u-shaped pattern leaving out the perimeter around the edges and crown. We would pin curl the hair with a large barrel iron and set in pins until they thoroughly cooled (a key tip for styling hair extensions).

Kim Kardashian: She's a known hair extensions fanatic and we are known Kim Kardashian fanatics. Long, gorgeous dark hair looks even better with more long and gorgeous dark hair. We have heard that she favors pre-tipped extensions in the back to add volume and length.

How to get her look: Bohyme Pre-Tipped Hair Extensions in Silky Straight. This retails for $89.99 & up it is only available online. We would suggest adding about four packs if you already have long hair, more if you need a complete transformation.

Lauren Conrad: The Hills features a bevy of girls who rock hair extensions. We love how Lauren gives her hair a break occasionally but we love it more when she puts them back in.

How to get her look: If you want the flexibility of having hair one day and a cute graduated bob the next then you need our Straight and Smooth Clip In Hair Extensions that retail for $99.99 and is available at all Sunny's locations and online.
