How to achieve the perfect shade of Red Hair

With the recent slew of celebrities opting to become a ginger we have stumbled across a great article on Shine with celebrity stylist secrets of maintaining the perfect shade of red.

Some tips include:
  • Choose a natural looking red by taking slow steps towards red hair a la Blake Lively with a rich strawberry blonde semi-permanent color that will wash out slowly.
  • Make a bold statement when you have dark hair with a LOUD Red a la Rihanna but take note that while red fades fast its remnant color stays a long long time

While the tips are great, we always stand behind the idea of using hair extensions to flirt with hair color.  Sew ins are a great way to do this since it allows the majority of your hair to be braided away and protected from harsh colors while you experiment away with a range of reds.  The key colors to look for in hair extensions to achieve reds are:
  • Color 30:  Light Auburn
  • Color 27: Strawberry Blonde
  • Color 33: Dark Auburn
  • Color 32: True Blood Red
  • Color 35:  Deep Mahogany Red
  • Color 613:  This is a platinum blonde which serves as a good base for depositing a rich red color similar to Manic Panic to achieve a bold red statement
We also have the option to shop by color on sunnyshair.com.
