Have Hair, Will Travel

Summer travel season is upon us…even though your schedule maybe all over the place, there is no excuse for your fabulous to suffer.  Here are a few tips to make sure every Sunny’s Girl's look is in tip-top shape while she jet-sets.

1. Satin is Your Savior

Cotton pillowcases are the devil!  They rob your hair of precious moisture.  Pack a satin bonnet, pillowcase, or scarf in your carry-on bag to wear at night and you are guaranteed to preserve your style throughout your trip.

2. Downsize Your Goodies

Please don't rely on hotel shampoos and conditioners...unless you're staying at the Four Seasons or The Ritz J  If this is a budget or business trip you don't want to use chain hotel products and expect your usual results.  If you can't find travel size bottles of your regular products, make your own.  In the beauty section of every major drugstore there are great empty containers that you can use for all the special treats your hair loves.

3. Always Have a Back-up

A true Sunny’s Girl is never caught unprepared.  A great half-wig, ponytail, or clip-ins are a necessity when traveling.  If you need to look refreshed near the end of a long trip, any of these items will give you a quick fix and have you out of your hotel room in a breeze.

While we here at Sunny’s Hair & Wigs are all about hair we know that it doesn't rule your life.  Whether traveling for business or pleasure, the last thing anyone wants to be worried about is their hair.  Hopefully these quick and easy tips will make your next trip a good one.

Happy travels!

Congrats Kim Kardashian....

It's been drowned out with all of us focusing on life post Oprah... but seeing Kim Kardashian on the cover of People reminded us.. that we really did at one point declare Kim Kardashian our all time favorite Sunny's Girl.   Even though we are looking for a replacement...we still do love her and wish her well in her next venture:  marriage.

She looks lovely and soft on the cover of People magazine.

From Hair to There: Sunny's TV

Hi Sunny's Girls.  It's been a while since we have posted a video.  This video is near and dear to us.  It a short presentation on a project that we had the honor to be a part of.

A lot of times people hear Sunny's Hair and Wigs and they think we are a typical beauty supply.  What they don't realize is how much we all really care about our customers and creating an experience that respects what being a woman is really about.  We are tongue in cheek, girly and frilly but at the end of the day we really do care about our Sunny's Girls lives and we hope that this piece shows those who like to hate, write mean reviews or dismiss us as another "girly enterprise" what it really means to be a Sunny's Girl

We hope you enjoy and share with your friends!

xoxo

How to achieve the perfect shade of Red Hair

With the recent slew of celebrities opting to become a ginger we have stumbled across a great article on Shine with celebrity stylist secrets of maintaining the perfect shade of red.

Some tips include:
  • Choose a natural looking red by taking slow steps towards red hair a la Blake Lively with a rich strawberry blonde semi-permanent color that will wash out slowly.
  • Make a bold statement when you have dark hair with a LOUD Red a la Rihanna but take note that while red fades fast its remnant color stays a long long time

While the tips are great, we always stand behind the idea of using hair extensions to flirt with hair color.  Sew ins are a great way to do this since it allows the majority of your hair to be braided away and protected from harsh colors while you experiment away with a range of reds.  The key colors to look for in hair extensions to achieve reds are:
  • Color 30:  Light Auburn
  • Color 27: Strawberry Blonde
  • Color 33: Dark Auburn
  • Color 32: True Blood Red
  • Color 35:  Deep Mahogany Red
  • Color 613:  This is a platinum blonde which serves as a good base for depositing a rich red color similar to Manic Panic to achieve a bold red statement
We also have the option to shop by color on sunnyshair.com.

Blake Lively: Is it a look we love?

Blake Lively has bid adieu to her lustrous blonde locks and said hello her new look that channels The Little Mermaid.

We can't quite decide if it is a look we love... it's so hard she is so lovely as a blonde that it's hard to embrace her as anything else.

What do you think Sunny's Girls?  Leave us a comment with your thoughts.

Looks we Love: Ms. Campbell

Naomi Campbell has either made a deal with the devil or she  is extra terrestrial;  either way you slice it this woman refuses to go quietly into her 40's.  She is amazing and with or without her edges this a look we love!

To achieve this look we'd recommend Indian Hair Natural Straight in 22" and gorgeous cheekbones.
